well story goes i was driving along in the mini.. went to push the brakes and straight to the floor.. no feel to the pedal at all  with the help of a good 5spd box and the handbrake i managed to pull up pretty quickly.. the r clip fell out of the pin at the pedal/master cyl which cause the pin to fall out.. i was really lucky i wasnt in traffic or it didnt happen in the city the other night when i was driving sensibly  new r clips are in, but was a close call..

has this happened to anyone else before?

i had that happen to me but it was the clutch. good bit of advice i got was to use Baby Nappy Bobby pins. There easy to get it and won't fall out. Just don't buy them when you girlfreind is around

Cheers

I had a Clubman with lousy brakes, the pedal was really low and after adjusting the brakes and then rebuilding them I found out that the pin was missing! The brakes worked but the pedal was nearly on the floor!

Ok so my brake pedal has fallen to the floor a couple of times before... Lucky for me it has not been a total lost of braking, pump it "SEVERAL" times finally gets the brakes to work. But on a more interesting subject a mini with a 5spd gearbox??

Amongst other things I had a brake master cylinder fitted by a mini 'specialist' in Brisbane. Recently I pulled the brake M/C out to fit the twin line one. Needless to say I was less than impressed when there was no R clip holding the pin in there.

Said mechanic also fitted non-locking, metric nuts to my steering rack ends.

It's powered by a Gti with a 5spd box, not an A series with a 4 speed
