Does the ECU for an SPI rover, have to remain attached to the inner drivers side firewall, can it be moved somewhere else in the engine bay, just need a little room for a fresh are intake pipe and its in the way.
Even attach it to the inside of the bonnet??? just a thought.

Can you get an extension made up for the connections.??????

If the loom reaches it could go anywhere. However, I doubt it's waterproof, so don't mount it where it can get wet

Good point about the water, I will have to see if it generates any heat, Stick in Thermometer, maybe, could be placed in a water proof container below break booster on firewall,

Davo mine was initially mounted at the front behind the grill where the early air con condensors sat, now that i have functioning A/C it was moved to the inner drivers guard. But when it was at the front it was always wet and in the elements, but it was fine, never skipped a beat.

Factory position is a stupid spot, very easy to get wet even though the plugs are o ring sealed.
I moved mine. Not wanting it to get wet, I moved it into the car behind the dash. It doesn't get hot, you don't have to worry about that. To get it where I have it, the loom had to be cut and lengthened but only for a couple of leads, not the whole lot. Extensions can't be purchased, I tried.
Crank sensor is the tricky one to extend, because its a shielded cable. Most important sensor for the engine to run, so don't make a mess of it.
If you don't unthread the loom, put it where ever it'll reach, but not the bonnet.

Easiest thing to do is just space it out from the wall its on a bit more.

No pics of the mods. Only the finished product.
