I'd love to see what trailers are out there being towed by minis.

It's something I've always liked the idea of and would love to see some pictures.

Mine started out as this;

Then it got cut down, rust repaired, reinforced, custom made "A" frame and chassis with leaf springs and beam axle using Ford hubs with mini stud pattern.


Drop down tail gate;

It hasn't been prettied up yet (still looks much the same as the pics) but it's registered, with std van tail lights, tie down points in each corner, spare wheel under the "A" frame.

I was thinking about finding a van and cutting from the B pillar forward and doing the same to a sedan, butting them up and welding the two together. From there I would cut open the roof and convert it into a pop top and make a mini inspired Poptop caravan.

I would then put in a false floor with drawers that pull out for a camping stove and would use the original boot space for the gas bottle and assorted other bits and pieces.

The chassis would be tandem wheels and obviously the wheel wells from the sedan would need to be moved.. I used to have a concept picture somewhere but it died along with one of my hard drives.

Worst part is I had a van shell but gave it to a mate because he wanted to put it on a Suzuki Sierra chassis but ended up selling it on me. If I knew he was going to do that I would have kept it for my little project.

Found an early one I did with two sedans. Wheels would definately need to be moved... And maybe not as long..

I haven't built one but heres couple of my photos of others...

Semi slicks and an exhaust pipe too. I like it.

When I redid my Mini 1000 (Canadian model) a trailer was a must...so the 998cc moved on and a 1380cc was assembled to haul sedan and trailer.

Moreover, the sedan and trailer would have the same colour scheme black over Liquid Yellow, the same interior upholstery scheme, use the same 10" Minilites and Yokie A008s.

Here in Elk City, Oklahoma at the Route 66 Museum on the run for Mini Meet West to MM East in 2006.



Trailer has simple box frame, single leaf spring each side, dead axle with Mini rear hubs (fabricated 3 bolt flanges ala trailing arm with machined shoulder for Mini axle, protected by welded up rear brake backing plates and Minifin drums). Axle was designed to carry a "stock" setup ala drum brakes or "S" spacered drums etc.

City flairs on trailer match sedan.



Mini is known as POOH hence trailer had to be the HUNNY POT.

Box frame with removable draw - so wiring harness is 3-piece - sedan, trailer and connecting draw harness. Shell is fabricated from the rear ends of two Mini sedans and the rear of two Mini roofs...



Setting up the trailer suspension.



Mini rear axle stubs located within fabricated bearing shoulders with brake backing plate.



Six (6) pieces of Mini roofs (2) to provide trailer with a Mini roof with gutters.

Great concept....weight could be a bit of a problem 'tho.
Fabricate it out of aluminium and make a prime mover for it.

Cutest trailer ever made...ever.

Like a Mini ute with a fifth wheeler set up... Could be cool. Weight wouldn't be too much of a problem with an aluminium chassis. There would be no motor or battery, or fuel tank to worry about.

I'd still do the back end with Van doors and a pop up roof though, can't be arsed photoshopping it right now.

I started building a trailer ages ago but stopped to look at other designs from the norm.

Problem I have with them is they always look too big for the car, even though its the same size. I'm even contemplatingmaking a 7/8 scale one out of fibreglass.

I like simon k's trailer, but I can't seem to find pics at the moment.

I'd like to build a small box trailer with polished timber box and motorbike gaurds. I think it would look real neat.
