Just wondering what colour was used on 1968 minis for the door seal pinch mould. Most original cars I have seen seem to be grey regardless of the interior or exterior colour.

Cheers

Hi Phil.

Yes originally grey and unusually, two piece. The grey plastic pinch weld part fitted over the separate door rubber.

Thanks John I thought that might be the case.

Next question is did the original pinch mould secure the rubber in place or was the rubber fused to the pinch mould.

At the moment my (black) pinch mould is separate and holds the rubber in place but it doesn't hold it very well in places, I'm not sure if thats the fault if the rubber or the pinch mould.

Was thinking if I ever replace the pinch mould may as well use grey but can I still buy separate rubber seal.

That style of pinchweld (grey and separate rubber seal) was still being used in about 2004 by Iveco in Victoria on the ACCO trucks.
The 2005 models have the black one with the bonded rubber.

Thanks everyone, actually the more I look the more I find, I've noticed they used grey webbing for the door straps too.

Cheers
