I know the Yanks destroyed the looks of the E Type and MGB Roadster. Didn't know they got their craws into the Mini too.

The girls in the above photo look deliciously English 'tho.

Here is another square headlight mini from the same photo selection.

If you look closely on that second pic, it looks like a Radford badge, and of course they were famous for (amongst other things), fitting square headlights to their coachwork Minis. Also electric windows and a hatchback conversion...

(Nifty link here, altho no headlight pics: http://www.aronline.co.uk/blogs/2011/07/27/mini-%E2%80%93-classic-radford-conversions/)

What leads you to think they're US? The top one is RHD.

Both mini's above are Steward & Arden conversions, the Sprint model I guess. 100% British. The rectangular headlamps used by Radford were way bigger then that.

Didn't the Americans go the other way for a while. Everything had to have round headlights, so the xjs got round lights with big glass surrounds, as did volvo 245's etc.

That's a Cooper Car Company Traveller, one of six built by Coopers. They had full Cooper S running gear in a Traveller body. I'm pretty sure John Cooper wasn't a yank.

Well you'd be amazed at the conversions/customisation that happened with minis in the 60's & 70's! Radford was one of many. It seemed at one point that everyone worth their salt as a coachbuilder customised a mini. Many were...errrr...odd looking

My bad.

The big bumpers, indicator/side light unit and especially the orange reflectors on the wings are all very typically American.

I quite like the black one though.

I think it might have added chrome strips across the bonnet and down the side..... Made to appeal to the American market perhaps?

Dicko.

The USA rules was everything had to have sealed beam headlights. So they ended up with thing like this...
