1970 Mini was a Matic.

So the old speedo was inaccurate and the odometer didn't work. I bought a Minispares Chinese Smiths 200kph speedo and fitted it this morniing.
The existing wiring was a complete mess with wires joined by twisting together and wrapping the joint in masking tape. Anyway moving on, the old temp gauge now reads too high (fuel gage is fine) and the funny thing is the car has developed a miss at lowish revs. I did remove the air filter at one stage and a couple of times for about 20 seconds I left the ign on without the car running. I have an electronic kit fitted. Could that be knackered?
Everytime I go to fix something on this car something else goes wrong or I find something else wrong. Slidey is jingst.

20 secs ign on shouldn't hurt it. When the cheap modules fail they just stop working... so I doubt yours is buggered.
Check the points gap, I find with a std coil and electronic module, .030"-.032" is OK, but go much more and you can get a low speed miss under load. particularly when cold. .040" gap (what blister packed plugs usually are now) is way too big.

As for the gauge reading high, check the V coming from the V stabilizer. Should be 10V.
If too high or low I'd bin it and get an electronic one off Wombat.

I can't really help, but I'd live to know how much it cost for the speedo including shipping?

Is the speedo an 800 turn speedo? I am after another speedo for my mini and always seem to have issues when i buy 2nd hand things.

dunno about 800 turn. Looks like it will read perfectly for a 3.4 diff with 10 inch wheels.

Danny, your 140KMH Moke speedo 800 turns/km = (approx) 1280 turns/mile, which is what this 200KMH/130MPH one is. This suits a 3.44 diff and 10" wheels fine. I run one, and it's spot on with the 3.44, overreads slightly with my 3.647 in at the moment.

Fitted electronic volt reg to temp gauge now it's fine.

Engine still has a inconsistant miss that I have to chase though.
