I finally bought the one on the left from Minisport and it fitted fine.
Note the sponge is softer (more holes) and has a bigger centre hole.
This was after I bought the one on the right from 2 Sydney shops and 3 people pushing together could not close the &%#(! boot.

I hear Karcraft and Mini King now have a similar `original' one but I've not seen or used them.
