Post subject:  Removing wheel bearings

I've been looking through all of the threads (and the useful how to) on assembling and installing wheel bearings into the hub, but what is the correct procedure for removing them?

I have an old set of hubs (last rego was mid 80's), finally got the last stubborn CV joint out but not sure how to attack the wheel bearings and their grease seals. Do I prise the seals with a screwdriver, drift each side out as one, or is there another method?

Pry the seals out with a screwdriver. The bearing cones will then fall out (if they are roller bearings).
Then use a flat ended chisel to knock the bearing cups out, there are 2 slots in the center web to allow this. Inspect the web for bruising by previous hamfisted owners before fitting the new bearings.
