After just over two years, I have finally got to the stage of getting the initial Road Worthy Check done on my mini tomorrow.

There's bound to be something they'll fail the car on, but wish me luck boys and girls :)

Hi Quickie,

Are you in the west or back home????

The motor is brilliant.......runs sweet as and it takes up and goes like *#@& off a shovel :)

I know it's going to fail - it was raining this morning on my way to the RWC place and the wind screen wiper switch was being very 'dodgy'. Also, the wiper blades themselves need replacing.

The wheel alignment is a little off too.

Ah well......too late now.......find out later on this afternoon what the go is.

Been home suffering the cold for nearly 3 weeks now....

My wiper switch is like that. Could be something to do with the fact that it never gets used in a dry-weather-only car.

Let me know how it goes mate.

Still no word from them but when I drove past at mid-day to pick up the Mrs, the mini was still where I parked it so till then it obviously hadn't been looked at @drumsfingersimpatiently :)

I'll send you a sms later Quickie.

Great....all I have to do is :-
1. Front lower inner control arm bushes
2. LHR and RHF shocker rubbers
3. RH castor arm bent
4. LH upper ball joint
5. Mount stereo into dash
6. Wiper inserts

Shouldn't take too much time :)

I believe that replacing the lower control arm bushes are a bit of a pain in the butt!!!

Any tips please on how to do it without losing too much skin from my knuckles :)

Cheers

Hi Quickie,

Ordered the parts last night so they should be here within the week.

Also, I picked up a 'straighter than the one I've got' tie bar from Jason yesterday afternoon. Pretty easy to bend back to 99.9% straight so that's all good. Naturally, I'll do that all at the same time when the new bushes arrive. Meanwhile, I'll get it nicely cleaned up etc as they take photos of the bits that need attention on the second inspection.

See you later mate - and thanks for the offer of helping me - it's yet another job that I've never done before.

Update.........joined the VMCI this week and various forms mailed off to them for signatures. Should be back in my hot little hands by mid next week then just front up to the Vic Roads people with completed forms and my dollars.......walk away with club plates and log book then look out, I'm back on the roads again. Just in time for a cruise with the Geelong people next Sunday :)
