Hello All,
Some advice needed please..fully charged new battery if the car is not used for a few days the battery goes flat. So i presume a leakage of power somewhere, so last night i removed the 2 brown wires that go from the solenoid to the altenator, checked the charge then checked 24 hours later no leakage. So does this mean the alternator is stuffed??

It seems a little strange that it would be the starter motor. Starter motors use a solenoid which are either 'on' or 'off.' If it's stuck on you would have burnt it out by now (and probably the car with it). Are you sure you didn't remove the two brown wires that go to the alternator (top right of the engine attached to the fan belt)? That's usually where you get power leaks, because the diodes in the regulator get old.

You can recondition these, but easiest to get an upgraded replacement. I got a 65 amp upgrade from convertablemini on this forum, and it's been working fine.

Do i get 45 or 70 amp? Just a std 1098cc engine no extra stereo etc..

45A is fine unless you have a big doof-doof stereo.
Original Clubby ones were only about 34A.

My original clubby one was enough to power the halogen headlights, driving lights and a 200W stereo. 45 amps should be fine, I opted for 65 amps in case I need that extra power somewhere along the line.
