I'm trying to test run an auto engine in the car but the std wiring has been damaged and partly removed. Looking at the w/shop manual I have repaired a bit and have a decent idea of what wires go to what items I just don't know for sure. I'm using a pulsar dizzy and a GT40R coil (these wires are sorted). What I'm not sure about is the following. Stater solenoid; Large brown wire (+ or -?) white /red trace (+ or -?) Is their + or - on the starter solenoid or do these just go on the blade terminals on either side? Coil; I think a white/black trace (+ or -?) Starter; Dose any other wires have to go to this apart from the + starter solenoid/battery cable? Ignition; It's missing so what wires do I need to connect in their? Is their anything else I need to know? |

Is the car positive earth or negative earth? Large brown on the solenoid is from the generator or alternator. White with red trace is from the key to the solenoid. This wire switches on the solenoid to make the starter work. You can make the starter work by touching a screwdriver from the live side of the solenoid to the terminal that the white/red wire is on. |

I haven't noticed any "negative earth" warnings anywhere. I believe the car is a 67 or 68 model which is - earth correct?. I currently do not have the generator installed so that large brown wire can be ignored. Where dose the coil get it's power from? With the auto box, where is this link bar ment to connect to on the carby? ![]() |
