Making me sad and angry, oil is good at start 60psi hot, 30-35psi idle after the engine is well warm hot is 40psi, idle drops to 10-15psi...

Going to change to valvoline classic this arvo, any other suggestions to keep oil pressure up?

Is it suddenly like this.

If u still have the original oil press relief valve check it is not jammed part open.

Dropped oil, diesel flushed, refilled with Valvoline classic.

Went for a 20min drive, idle is 45psi hot is 75psi... see how long it lasts...

Definitely won't be using gw oil again

Is the diesel flush causing the issues, are you getting it all out? I cannot say I have ever done this?

One of my Mini's had low oil pressure and when changing the oil it would come out very thin.

Turns out the seal in the mechanical fuel pump had failed and fuel was getting in the oil and contaminating it. New seals in pump, new oil and good oil pressure was back.

Unlikely this is your problem but thought I would throw it out here just in case.

Pete

Ok,

its been a week, the valvoline is a great oil, pressure is up at start around the 60pounds at idle, drove around yesterday for a while, stop start traffic etc and the pressure began to drop again... had to keep feathering the accelerator to stop it from going below 15-20pounds...

Doc, i think it may still have the original relief valve... do you mind if i come around this week or next and you can show me how to do your modification?

Sure, drop in and I'll help you sort it out..
I have a new 9/16" steel ball you can have.

It could also be that a ball has been fitted with no steel rod inside the spring, the spring can then bend around a bit and flick the ball partly off the seat.
