As topic says, I have a fully rebuilt gearbox and new engine ready to be installed and would like to know what steps I need to take as regards oil selection and running in? |

the oil u need ir run in oil from sca or wollies home brand cheap stuff first u need to run in the cam, u must hold the revs over 2 k for 15 min then on ur first drive u need to find a hill, then drive up the hill in 3rd or 4th depending on the ramp up, u need to labour the engine from 1500 to 3000 rpm this is to bed in the rings, do this about 10 times then u can go for a hwy squirt and clock up 100 odd klms go home drop the oil and filter and put new stuff in , check sump plug magnet for any shavings ect adjust the timing,check the plugs ect top up with new crap oil and u can drive normally for the next few days up to 500 klm , then u can change to what oil you wish to run all of the engines ive build have been pretty much run in this way , dont be scared of reving it once u have done 100klm , |
