There is currently an ad on Ebay for a 1970 Morris Mini Cooper S, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110963754143 ... 1423.l2649.

Be aware that it is a Morris Mini K with supposedly Cooper S running gear.

I hope all those people retract their bids as this should be listed as a cooper s replica.... and not a very good one at that. Why do people persist in trying to pass these things off without totally disclosing what they actually are. :x

As an education piece to help others potentially identify impostors, what gives this one away (I'm not familiar enough to know)?

you can report it to ebay not as described. But he does state in the add to those saying its not a Cooper S i have shown a pic of the compliance plate for your own investigations.
So he is either a good shister or he is trying like mad to cover his ass when the winning buyer finds out he got ripped off..

It's only a rip off once it gets up to Cooper S money.
If it's solid with a good strong 1380 in it it could be a good buy.

The thing is (as has been discussed to death  ) it aint what it says on the tin! :x

It sound like he got stung thinking it was a Cooper S and now he is trying to get some cash back.

Even if you don't know what to look for his arse covering description is enough to get the alarm bells ringing.

Nice touch on explaining the burst proof doors though.

as morris said id plate is a dead give away should be yg2s4
other things that scream problem
the guy says he thinks it is a cooper s and he pulls out the ex police car card
speedo incorrect as is temp gauge
flares incorrect
brake pedal thin (this one hard to pick)
seats incorrect upholstery
no hydrolastic bags at front
there is probably more things if i could see better and yes most of these things could have been replaced if it really was original but i very much doubt it.

He has added further information that might clear up a bit of misunderstanding...

Quote:
IV BEEN TOLD IT HAS GOT A MINI K BODY BUT COOPER S RUNNING GEAR BY PEOPLE ON EBAY SO JUST IN CASE THEIR RIGHT SO NO ONE CAN SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ANY FALSE ADVERTISING ITS A MINI K BODY WITH COOPER S RUNNING.IT GOES BETTER AND MORE ORIGINAL THAN A LOT OF COOPER S'S OUT THERE AND TO THE SMART ASS WHO PUT THERE 2 CENTS IN WORTH THAT WHY I PUT A PICTURE OF THE COMPLIANCE PLATE UP FRONT AS I SAID I AM A CLASSIC CAR ENTHUSIAST NOT A TYRE KICKER LIKE SOME.

Did you hear the one about the people that went to jail for selling a fake Falcon GTHO?
Sell it as a Mini K and nobody gets hurt. Sell it as a Cooper S and...
