Post subject:  Big thanks to.....

All the awesome people on here willing to give a hand where they can :)

Its not often I PM anyone on here, and I feel bad that the odd time I do its to ask for advice on something rather than for just a bit of friendly chit chat.

I had to send the Doc a message the other day, because much to my embarrassment, after hours of trying, I simply could get a weld to work. I'd been tearing my hair out trying to work out why it was cracking and carrying on. The first time I welded something, I was 6 years old (I remember, because I took it to school for show and tell  ), I'm no welding genius, but after years of experience I don't normally struggle either. So it was great to know that even though I don't normally talk to the doc much I could just drop him a message and he steered me in the right direction with just 6 lines of info.

Big thanks to you Kevin, you're a champion :D

I haven't messaged him in a while, but even TheMiniMan. There has been a few times over the years I've dropped him a message out of the blue to ask him about something. And again, a total stranger, ready to sit down for what would probably be a while (because if you've seen Matt's posts, he doesn't know how to keep ANYTHING breif  ) and write out a detailed explaination.... (and I'm sorry I didn't manage to drop through and say hi when I was up in Morningside a few months ago, time just got away, but I might bump into you at Byron over Christmas).

These are just a couple of people who've given me a hand on here, and I just wanted to express my gratitude for the time they've taken to offer their advice.

Cheers Guys, you're the sort of people that make forums worthwhile :)

Alex

can this be an ongoing thread of thanks to those great Mini helping hands?

I too can thank Kev Dr Mini most graciously for his help in sourcing a replacement head for my mini-matic so cheaply and quickly. I was very grateful for that

and also today I received in the mail a nice package from a Scott in Melbourne who I bough an AP Auto transmission book from off ebay. He then also offered me several other Auto manuals and a box full of auto gearbox bits still in their original BMC boxes and wrappers, for not much more than what I paid for the original manual!

It felt like my birthday and Xmas had arrived at once! what a legend!!

I think everyone may jump into this thread soon
But I too have called upon Kev and others also for help and have been given valuable advise I couldn't have found even if I was paying for it.

Big Thanks

Couldn't agree more.........Doc (or Kev), Mike Byron, Alex (Phat Kat) just to name a couple of people I've PM'd in the past. Then there's the likes of the people who live in your neck of the woods - Rod (Oscar) and Bob (MiniBob) in particular who are always willing to lend a hand and so on.

Cheers :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I'm just happy to help people with their cantankerous little Minis.:D

Mini ownership is an illness, and there is no known cure... even after a 20+ year Italian Love Affair, I came back to them. :P

I think everyone on this site would owe Kevin a few beers... I'm pretty sure he's more keen for my car to be finished than I am just so I stop asking questions!
Without him or GR I'm sure my engine would still be in 100 pieces!
