ahoy mini peeps

Just wondering how you guys refine searchs on ebay for mini stuff.
Since ive been working on my K ive started again looking at ebay for goodies but the word mini brings up a hell of alot of stuff i have no interest in.
Im familiar with the - sign before words to cut them out and ive gotten rid of a few things but its still more crap than good stuff that comes up in the search.

So Im after some saved searches that others use that are tried and true crap filters

It's hard because too tight a filter and you could miss some great stuff. I know a lot of people just search "mini" in car parts within australia, and trawl through. I'll be generous, but mine is pretty basic: mini -r56 -bmw . the only crap it leaves is about "mini trucks" which are usually pretty funny to look at so i don't mind them -truck would probably help.

I had another one that I lost and I think it was just this but a bit tighter, eg -r53 etc. Get a smartphone, the eBay app and get notifications when something new is listed. Also use the postcode distance search thing to find stuff around you.

You click on advanced search and type in words you don't want to search, such as boxing glove, flag, i pod, bike, chooper, etc etc.

I search morris mini cooper.
Finds most things.
I search mini + something else to narrow it down specifically.

Morris mini annoyingly used to just search mini stuff then for some reason it started to throw in a whole bunch of crap.

I usually search "mini -truck -bike -toyota -flag -bmw" There's still a lot of rubbish that pops up, but that leaves just about everything that would be important.

I have a saved search that looks for...

I just kept adding new ones every time someone spammed the existing search. It turns out that there is a limit to the number of words you can subtract.

I search through a few items;
Leyland mini
mini Clubman
Morris mini
mini moke
Cooper S
etc etc

I use this for searching for cars:

mini -200* -truck -4wd

Gives you everything with 'mini' but nothing with 'truck', '4wd' or a 2000 - 2009 date.

I use this for searching for parts:

mini (clubman, moke, leyland, morris, cooper, 197*, 196*) -200*

Gives everything under 'mini' with any one of the additional terms within the brackets and nothing with 2000 - 2009.

Mini -(Chevy, ford).

That usually gets the results from around 1500 safely down to around 400.

hmm I must be doing something wrong, I never get below about 15000 from a search?????? Even using the ones you guys list?

I agree, search Australian only. I search every day just looking at the new listings. There is only about 50 or so new listings a day.

.... and now ebay will remove wildcard searches

Now how do we find things that people can't spell right ?
