Post subject: | Clutch question |
took Claud for a spin today, to blow out the cobwebs, have a small problem when selecting gears, seemed to get worse the longer i drove it. hard to go back through the gears when slowing down, and hard to select 1st when stationary. seemed a little easier when double clutching, appeared worse when hot, had to push really hard when selecting gears, hope there is an easy solution, any suggestions :-[ |

I'll take a guess at clutch master cylinder or gummed up slave cylinder. If you double the clutch and it works fine, it's definitely hydraulic related! Cheers Shane |

Check the fluid level in the MC then bleed the slave cylinder. If you can't get rid of all the air, the slave is sucking air in on the pedal upstroke because the seal is old or worn. Slave cylinder seal is just a std 7/8" cup one, available from any brake shop, or the usual Mini suppliers. |

thanks gents, the level in the brake reervoir was pretty low, topped it up with dot4, took it for a quick spin around the block, and it appeared to have improved a bit, will try and bleed it, if i can find out where the nipple thingie is hiding behind the A/C stuffs |
