Hi Guys,

I originally was a member under my old user name cooper93 but could not log in anymore. So Hi again. :D

I have an original Dashboard ( brush metal finish ) that I would love some help fitting. Been quoted silly money by professional shops so was wondering if anyone could help me ? Im happy to pay for your time in Cash, beers or whatever but it would need to be reasonable.

Car is a 1993 Rover Mini Cooper works SPI

Many thanks in advance
Garth

They aren't hard to fit at all - only 3 screws, the plug for the radio, plug for speedo and speedo cable. With the steering wheel off its a one man job.
You can't go too wrong if you have a crack yourself.

Whats the difficult part? Did your car have the dash originally?

Thanks for the reply - Well, I may give it a go then. The thing is, the dashboard does not come with any fitting hardware ( its new old stock ) so I would love to see a how to and what I need before tackling it. My car has a dashboard fitted ( its the plastic one some Japanese Cooper had fitted around 93-94 ) but I really want to fit this one ( same as fitted to Mini 40s ) to finish the car off... any link you know of that shows how to do it ? The haynes manual shows it but I need more pictures :D

I think the thing to do is remove the old dash and see if the mounting brackets are the same.
Does your car have AC?

Yes it does - Thats actually a good point, as the brackets could be reused to fit the new dash.

Strangely enough, my glove box on the new Mini 40 dash is not fitted nor includes any hardware eather... I remember seeing the hardware kit in mini spares site so I better order that first.

The other thing to check is the air vents - some of those plastic dashes have the vents one above the other or behind the glove box door. Are they in the same spot as the air vents in the new dash?

When do you want to do it? I have a Rover with air con with what I think is the same dash. I have to pull mine out as the wiring needs to be redone. If you want I can either send pics of it out, or you can pop by and check it out to see the mounts etc? I am located in West Ryde in Sydney.
