Hi all, Looking for peoples preference to penetrating oils? I have a stuck brake adjuster and need to swap it out. I have had a look online and the main recommendation that i have found is PB Blaster. I have no idea where to get this but from what i saw on eBay, its pricey. So, what else is out there? Preferably something accessible (Repco, SuperCrap, Bunnings etc) As always, your input is appreciated. Cheers, Dave |

PB blaster is American stuff I think. Penetrene is pretty good but I've not seen it for years. Better than WD40 etc if you find it. http://www.blackwoods.com.au/search/pen ... /307019539 I used to heat them up with a hot air gun or gas torch and spray WD40 in. Seems to work.

I picked up a Permatex branded penetrating oil a couple of months ago at SuperCrap, seems to work well and didn't cost the earth. |

Chemsearch Yield is very highly regarded. Its really effective, but it would want to be. It costs around 5X as much as RP7 or CRC. Blackwoods have it.

Mouse Milk penetrating oil is by far the best you will come across. I have been using it in the aircraft industry for over 20 years and it still astounds me with its ability to free up siezed bolts etc. The trick with it is to liberally apply it and wait about 30 minutes before attempting the removal. |

Yeah that would be thin enough to penetrate. Otherwise use INOX. |

Tim I agree with Yield, it is the best one I have ever used. It is so good it is spooky! I also use Penetrene. It is not as good as Yield but it is still very good. I have not heard of Mouse Milk, where can you get it?

ATF mixed with acetone. I've never tried milking a mouse - is it anything like milking a bull? |

I found Penetrine at the local industrial tool supplier. $8.15 for a half litre bottle. Works just as well as the last bottle I finished years ago. Cheers, |

Got my Penetrene spray can at the local Mitre 10 - don't go to the high volume outlets - Bunnies or Supa crap - they dont have it - too good for them |

Tim Another vote for Yield! I've used it to free parts from old steam locos that have been in parks for 40 years,  and like Morris says, it's ability to move old rusted stuff is amazing!!

As an aside does anyone remember/know the name of the silver/metallic paste that you would put on bolts so they wouldnt sieze ? we used it on water pumps years ago to ward of rusting etc " not sure how it would go in a car though " ? anyone used it tried it ? Cheers Bill |
