Not many that havent been restored or messed with, let alone with matching numbers. |

Post subject: | Originality Check |
Hi Steve The register has this as a 1967 Toga White Car with a Burgundy roof with a red interior. Numbers are all good. I have no idea when this car was listed to the register but it seems with the reference to the red interior and the claim its been red for 26 years its probably a long time ago it was listed. Or the black appeared in the meantime. And the red interior i think does stack up. I recall plenty of the burgundy over white Mk1s but not with a black interior. Flares and 2-screw tail lights means its had some other mods along its long life, but the wipers park correctly for a Mk1. I would do the full check nonetheless. Go for the M206 stamping & the radiator shroud check. If you don't know what I mean then PM me and we can take it further. Wayne |

Two screw tail lights could be original as my understanding is they were fitted from the latter part of 1967 |

Correct!! My understanding from pics is around August 67 they changed to 2 screw but, as with everything else with BMC its not a definitive date. Also flares were a recall item in some states and retro fitted to many MK1's |

Good to see the numbers match even if the font doesn't. ![]() |

Thats hard to say. The lower case "a" wasnt always used and the only number that looks different is the 1 doesnt have the little tail at the top of it. The diagonals are there the sizing looks correct, and it looks like the engine hasnt been out of it in a long time. Not the sort of detail someone would go to over 26 years ago. Could be wrong tho. I've had a good look at the car and driven it. Very original car and tight to drive. Has a lot of detail that costs a lot to find like genuine dash surround, heater, original green tipped indicator switch etc. Was evidence of previous red interior as suggested. Straight body with minor dings and nicks. Needs a respray badly but minimal panel work. Will be interesting to see what it goes for given that replica S's are on carsales for 15-20k. Have a go at it Steve. You know you want it. G. |
