OK Mini anoraks, I know a Mini K box is supposed to have a 3.765:1 diff in it, the Mini K parts book says so.
However..

I have just stripped one from a 1 owner Mini K, and it's a 3.647:1 (17/62).
Over the years I would have stripped about a dozen 4 synchro remote shift boxes, I have never ever found one to have a 3.765 diff in. Sure, some would have been from 1098 Clubbies, but not all.

Surely the parts books can't be wrong...??

Doc,

My Mini K parts book (PUB 1038) shows 2 crown wheel part numbers on page F4 - 22A401 (64) and 22G940 (62). I assume that means there was an option.

Both the Mini K sedan and van sales brochures only list the 3.65 (17/62) diff.

Thanks for that- you are right, I just couldn't find it before. It's buried in the pic on that page, is not listed in the parts list like the pinion is.

The Leyland Black book lists Mini 1100 saloon and van [early models] as 3.765, Mini 1100 saloon and van [late models] Clubman as 3.650.
I and some others here took this to mean the Mini K was early, and Clubman 1098 was late, as no change points are shown.

All the 4-sync boxes I've stripped had 3.65s in them - but they were all late K / Early clubby boxes.

Wasn't the 1100 van & saloon the "povo pack"? I imagine they would have got the 3.76?

3.65s are awesome in an 1100 S :D

cheers,

Jacob
