Post subject:  Clearance Auction - ACT

Was passed this at work today by another enthusiast. For anyone in the ACT region there is a clearance auction on 15 Dec which includes some mini's and some mokes.

Might be worth a look.

cheers,

CJ

I checked this out today and picked up a few good deals. Pallets of mini parts were going out for around 10 dollars. Mostly made up of 850/deluxe/Morris 1100 and Moke parts with a few bits and bobs like Hardy spicer joints, a Cooper S harmonic balancer or two and twin carb setups.

Everything went for a good price. The red moke was 450.00, the beaut Morris 1300 went for 400, and the Silver Clubman went for about 1500. I can't remember what the white moke went for, but it wasn't much.

I scored a 1000 Auto with it's 295 head, spesh rocker cover and hardy spicers for 50 bucks :D Also picked up a flywheel puller for a few bucks and a set of steelies for 10. Found a set of period champion plug leads, and a set from the later 60s as well.

Ricks mini was there and I'm certain a number of other ausmini lurkers as well.

I didn't get photos...I left my phone in the car...

I scored a couple of bits. I was too busy looking at bits to recognise faces. (sorry, I wasn't deliberately snubbing anyone)

The Mokes were a bit rough around the edges. I think the white one was complete and could probably have been roadworthy after a few days work.
The red one needed a motor, a dash and some other bits.
The Morris 1100 (with a 1300 badge on the boot) looked pretty good apart form the paint and seats.
The white 1100 with the hit in the bum was an automatic, but the motor was out of it.

The 1300 was tops I thought. It went to a nearby neighbour who is going to polish it up, clear laquer it and give it to his grand daughter. I was pleased to hear that.

I didn't know you were there Michael, but who was looking anywhere except the pallets I suppose...

I stripped the 295 off the matic engine and upset a pair of very large and angry Huntsman guarding eggs in two pots. I had to wrestle them to the ground, but I eventually got the upper hand. They may have fangs, but I have opposable thumbs!

What is the plan with the rest of the 1100 auto motor?

Its a 1000.... unfortunately if you wanted it its already going to another bloke.

Sorry Michael, if I knew you could use it then it would have been yours....

Were you after an 1100 crank? I didn't figure the auto itself was going to be sought after by anyone in particular...

I was just checking that it wasn't headed for the scrap bin.
I am a fan of the autos but I don't really need one.

I was too late for the cars. I probably would have got the white 1100.

I would have liked the Moke windscreen! I should have kept bidding.
There was a box with a heap of blinker switches, a few were Morris 1100 and a few Mini. It went out of my league when it passed $5.

The puller that you got, was it the one with the starters and the gearboxes?

Sure was a pleasure to meet you too Rick. Its good to see not all the great guys are in the other State Capitals. Goulburn seems to have a few as well.

The moke windscreen! I was standing right there! I must have been right next to you as the bidding passed 15 dollars..

The puller was hiding over with a pair of starters and a roll of steel cable near the caravans. There were some boxes next to it however. I forgot to bid for the compressor! What did it go for I wonder?

I got caught with a combined lot. They threw in the previous unsold pile of crap with the bits I wanted. :x

Yeah, I could hear people sighing as they stacked the crap on another pallet. I suppose it means its out the door for the old owner however.

It was odd that a lot of the parts of the Mokes were lying in other piles and pallets nearby. The sidebin covers were there, as were the rear seats for the clubman, just on another pile. The fellow who bought the orange mini got two contessas only, the other contessas were two pallets down and were bought by another guy.

I spoke the the owner later on. The lady of the property's husband was ex-navy (Chief chippy) and finished up in 83 after 20 years in.

I saw a bloke with two contessas, a stock 10" and a Cooper S wheel.
