I'm about to tackle replacement of a front knuckle nylon cup. I've just realised this is the first one I've ever done that is new enough to have the single bolt covering the top of the cone (as opposed to the little plate with two studs). My cars have always been old...

As first look it seems hellishly tight. Is this just a case of a longer lever? r is it something stupid like a reverse thread? Thought I'd better check before I go knuckle dragger on it....

Nah definitely a bolt, maybe it's an English thing.

Got it off with a little persuasion. OK, a lot.

Now just gotta get the old knuckle out of the strut... :x

yeah, some get rusted in and won't come out. Try taking 'trumpet' out and soaking with wd40. Best remedy is new ball joints and set of hi/lo's

Yeah I even have a set of old adjustables here. Trouble is over here if I do that I need to get the car certified ("engineered" in aus-speak"). Will probably do that eventually, but will wait until the 1380 goes in 8)
