Hi guys,
I am after a new cap for the pulsar dizzy installed on my Mini, does anyone know what the part number of the Nissan cap

Pulsar dizzy rotor is Bosch GH643

Condensation crept into the mini over the weekend and with the rain today it didn't help.. Broken down due to electrical issues.

Spray cap inside & out with WD40, wipe dry.. Spray inside again and shake off the excess, refit, enjoy.:mrgreen:

I was able to get the cap but not the rotor.
Are they dizzy's out of N12 pulsars?

Yes they are (late) N12 Pulsar ones. Early ones had a points dizzy with clip on cap.
Where did you try for the rotor?
I bought my caps here and they list the rotor too.

$27 for a bosh cap and $11 for a repco brand rotor, They can't seem to find the bosch part number for the rotor.

I have tried a couple of places and they said it will take 3-5 days and i can pick these up tomorrow.

I'd spray WD40 inside the cap before you fit it. Then next time it rains you won't be wondering why it's misfiring (due to condensation...) :lol:

I thought these dizzy's were pretty good in wet weather :shock: .

Have been thinking about putting my Pulsar dizzy back in after having mods done on it .

At least i know my old Lucas points dizzy won't let me down in the rain , :lol:
Drove along Denman road a while back , when a storm hit , there was about 6" of water on the road , and it was PI$$in down , i thought it'd stop for sure , but it kept going :o .

Pulsar ones are great in wet weather (only Minis on the Kangaroo Valley run a few years back that failed to proceed when the BIG deluge came, all had points dizzys).
However, if any moisture gets in it can condense inside the cap, create a conductive path and the sparks will crossfire. This won't happen if you WD40 it first. Only needs doing every year or so. Applies to Lucas dizzys too... :wink:

I've never had a problem with the wet but something that Jaguar XJS V12's had was a system for hot air venting of the dist/cap. It was a small pipe about 5/16" o.d. fitted to exhaust manifold, a small rubber hose then went to dist body, the hose was then fitted to cap and run to air filter. Whilst running a small amount of warm dry air was drawn through distributor keeping it dry. It was actually fitted as a safety divice** on the Jags but worked a treat to keep them dry. Sounds complicated but actually quite simple and effective, I had it fitted to my Baja VW.

** Old V12's used to get petrol fuels from weepy injectors that seeped into the dist. Then when you hit key to start it the cap exploded into about 13 pieces, each with a lead attached! :lol:
