Post subject: | Std 1275 Crank Thrust Washer Size? |
Hi all, Done a few searches and didn't come up with any results! Just trying to figure out what size crank thrust washers to order for my rebuild. With the crank resting on the upper bearing shells, no caps on, the upper crank thrust measures .009" with my used std thrust washers. What is the size of the STD 1275 crank thrust washer? I've measured up my used std ones and they're .090" thick. Also my used +.030" are .120" thick. So I'm guessing, & assuming nothing, that the std size is .090"????? Which leads me to think the +.003" thrust are what I need! I can use the new +.003" upper on the flywheel side and the used std on the "front" side to give me a .006" thrust gap for the upper half. I have no new std thrusts apart from those in a motor I just built. I measured a new +.003" one and it's .095". So new stds should be .092" (I think...) |

I read a thread on Minifinity yesterday and one guy had measured the std size up at .093". So I think I'll stick to std size, and worse case, i'll have to take .001" - .0015" of the back of each washer to give me .005" - .006" clearance on the block side. Cheers Shane |

Those I measured were brand new ACL thrust washers. (made in Oz, Tassie) IMO if you are going to rev a 1275 you want not less than .006" endfloat. .003" as per the book is NOT enough, I found out the hard way after 4 laps of Wakefield Park. I `almost' spun the centre main in the block due to overheating, but not quite. |

I've read numerous threads / posts with regards to the crank end float & your experience with only .003" end float has cropped up several times too! I'm aiming for .005"(Matt Read) - .006"(Drmini). I only have a MD276 cam so 7000RPM will probably be my limit. Currently .009" end float with .090" old thrusts, and your new +.003" thrusts measured at .095", I should be using std ones (.092") to give me .005"...but if they're slightly bigger I can take .001" or so off the back of them!
