Went to place in tassie to check on a part and in procees he offered me a complete coopers motor, cannot see engine no as it has been decked but he was positive it came out of a cooper s , gearbox, twin su, and both fuel tanks and disc brake front end . What would all this be worth if genuine ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Geez mate, its hard ot tell without seeing it all. Assume nothing works as their is the potential for everything to be broken within the engine and transmission. But with complete Cooper S engines going for in excess of 3-4k, plus all the gubbins it is coming with you can probably guess yourself beyond that. You have to make sure it is all genuine S gear however. Could be an 1100S block and gearbox from anywhere. That would change the situation somewhat. |

You don't need engine numbers to tell if it's an S engine or not. |

How about if its an S motor there are eleven head studs. No fuel pump hole. Back plates. 1100s has solid back ie no back plates and mechanical fuel pump hole. Head should have AEG163(mk1) or 12g940(mk2) under tappet cover. Gearbox has steel uni's not rubber or cv pot. If you can get the bundle of parts for a good price grab em. Value as above. Cheers Rob. |

Early Cooper S Mk1 boxes have rubber unis, not Hardy Spicer steel ones. Flywheel end of a Cooper S block has 1 big welch plug, all other 1275s including Morris 1100S have 2 small ones there. |

Nope, same block as an 1100S. With a wider rear main cap for the crank `seal'. And the oil pickup hole tapped for the Midget pipe & strainer. BTW all those 1275s here were Midgets not Sprites.. |
