Hi. heading home from the Grand Day Out my left side wheel bearings failed. Had to drive to my cousins another 30k's. Is there anyone localish that can help out? I need to still travel 350k's to get home. Spot of bother I say. Where can I get disk break bearings? Are they pressed in or can I knock them out? Cheers Damian You can call me on 0429982079 |

The bearings aren't easy to get out of the car in an emergency situation. Hub nut alone is the first obstacle - usually need a pretty big breaker bar. If you did change it, you'd leave the outer race in the hub and just change the centres, it'll get you home. |

Torque it up, get a pin in there, check it and your wheel nuts every 50km till home. |

Fencing wire or a decent nail will do for a split pin... probably stronger than chinese split pins anyway. |

Home now. All is good. No damage done apart from a very scuffed up disk and a chipped pad that needs replacing. At least the bearings got a re-grease. Good to see a few familiar face's in the crowd, even though I'd forgotten most of your names, and great to put faces to the names I see on here (Davo ![]() Thanks again to the people that offered help and to the people that phoned. Cheers |
