You should stick your head in the boot of a Renault 750, R8 or R10 - on the later two, at least they moved the headers to the opposite side from the filler. Is it much different to sticking the battery underneath a petrol tank in a cooper S or Clubbie GT? ![]() |

My 27T roadster HAD the tank right above the driver and passenger's legs.....INSIDE the cabin (strapped under the dash). |

I just wanted to see the looks of the faces of the engineering team when THAT was presented to them. Wasn't the Mk I slagged for safety because the fuel filler would fracture right above the exhaust? And the door handles that killed that schoolboy by dragging him along? And the doors that would pop out on impact? And no seatbelts? And seats only fitted at the front? And a non-collapsible steering column? With a non-padded steering wheel? Safety has come a long way, and styling too. PS: All motorbikes have petrol tanks above the engine... |
