Anyone know which head gasket I can use for this? I need to run 2 of them to allow valve clearance. The 1275 gasket I have doesn't line up correctly with the far water jacket ports, everything else seems fine just two water jacket ports. I have been thinking of getting some copper and water cutting one the thickness I want to? Any experience here appreciated ![]() |

A 1275 gasket lines up OK if you use a 1275 head, as you say it won't work on a smallbore head. If I were you I'd try 2x ACL Monotorque gaskets first, they have a pretty good fire ring and might work OK. Back in the 60s when we used to bore 1098s to 66.5mm, a smallbore gasket worked OK. |

Thanks Kevin, It seemed that two of the water ports in the block didn't line up properly with the 1275 head gasket? I only quickly had a look tonight but I will look again and maybe take a photo to explain what I am looking at. |

1275 gasket should work fine then, as not all the water holes at the ends in the smallbore block are used with the 1275 head. ![]() Just check how the gasket sits over the row of small holes along the front of the block. Sometimes they need plugging and redrilling smaller. |

This is how it looks placed on block. All the front holes appear to line up ok. ![]() |

Put the 2 studs in that locate the gasket (there's 2 holes are smaller) and have another look. If you are then still worried about that water hole in the block, take a round file to chamfer it, or touch it with a die grinder. |
