im currently restoring a Moke, and was wondering if its risky getting it sandblasted or is it better to get it soda blasted ?

i had planned to get it soda blasted but i have concerns that it wont remove the rust sufficiently, at the same time will the sandblasting warp the mokes panels ?

find someone good and they can do what needs to be done, i.e. soda blast most but sand/other media blast the heavily rusted areas

and braad, ill look into it.. id like to reduce costs though, not increase them though..

yeah thats fair enough. I was quoted $1500 from a reputable guy in sydney to do the whole car that way (inside, outside, underneath, doors, etc) and put on a decent coat of primer. Others have been less, but i know this bloke is an ex-panel beater and works with guys i know who do concourse restorations. So i'd say that would be at the upper end of pricing, but he was pretty much guaranteed to not warp panels, use the correct media and do it properly.

mine came in at ABOUT $1500

Someone who is experienced and takes there time will be able to sand blast with no problems.
Word of mouth and smy testimonials of previous work is probably your best bet.

Don't get the bonnet sand blasted unless your confident the operator knows what he's doing.
