Post subject:  splutters at high RPM
My mini with it's A+ 1275 carby engine has developed a miss around 5000rpm. The revs climb strongly until it hits that area then it dies, if I change up a gear the engine keeps going fine until I hit 5000rpm again.
Now I haven't tuned the engine in a long time so is it safe to assume it's just out of tune or could it be a semi blocked fueling system of some sort?

If you haven't tuned it for a fair while , i'd start with the basics , plugs , points , ( especially correct gap setting ) timing , then carbie , Plus changing the fuel filter can't hurt .

Change one thing at a time , otherwise you won't really know what fixed it .

Check your vacuum advance hose for kinks too.

Post subject:  Misfire @5000 RPM
I suggest you stick to the speed limit especially at this time of year. What speed does this car do at 5000 RPM? Perhaps you need a higher ratio Differential so you don't have to rev it so hard. Otherwise try another set of plugs.

Electric pump and a HIF4 carby.

The dizzy is the std electric item that came on the Rover A+ motor so no points to worry about.

Well it all depends on what gear your in as to how fast your travelling at 5000rpm, I hit that pretty much every time I change gears, when do you change gears?

Check your dissy cap and points, leads, spark plugs, the usual and common culprit of high rev splutter. Next is probably carby, when was it last serviced?

I change mine at 3500rpm most of the time, honest Officer 8)

If you held the revs at the point of splutter for a short while,,, then do a spark plug check,,, see what that tells you

Also, my guess is coil
