At Mick's (aka 9YaTaH) request here is some info on my car.
All of my info is at my fathers house so most of this is off the top of my head.
Born in Oct 1970 the car was given directly to R Williams (Ron I think??) It campaigned bathurst first in 1970 then 1973 and 1975. The car was driven by Caroline O'Shannesey and teamed up with various others but cant recall names off top of my head. It always finished Bathurst without too much drama. During these years it was used throughout the touring car circuit, having raced at Phillip island, Gold coast amaroo, oran park, lakeside etc. After the 1975 Bathurst it was taken off the track and used sparingly as a road car by Caroline. I bought the car off Caroline in 1996 ish. It still had the original rollcage, harnesses, and the race engine in full race spec. It was totally original other than a smiths tacho and momo steering wheel which had been fitted in 75. The car came with a box of spares as well as many of the programs from race meets that it entered. There were the original log books x 2 and a bunch of racing time cards etc. The car ran against big names like Brock, Moffat, Seton etc and was amazingly unmolested when I got it. Since then I have restored it and it pretty much just sits around. I havent had time to turn a wheel in over 3 years so it will probably need some minor things done before I take her out again. Despite having received some rediculous offers for it, she is not for sale. My father and I both have Cooper S's and it is a common interest that means more than a few bucks, so she is staying put for now. The old man has a mint condition Mk 2 that is 2 owner and never restored, and I have had a fair share of cooper s concourse cars but this one is just too hard to replace.

Greg....many thanks....and would love to see anymore stories, pics or other stuff about the car or drivers.

there is not enough history of our racing cars being kept mate...good on ya.

I suppose you realise how important it is to keep all the log books etc and Certificate of Description, if you have one, to allow it to go racing again if it felt the need :D

and you are right about crazy prices for ex-racers....some, like A9X Toranas have gone through the roof...

OK....from around about the same period....does this ring any bells with anyone out there?...

"Two cars that ring a bell from that time one being a Dark Blue ex
NSW Police vehicle set up by Don Holland and raced by Bob Wedd, and

an orange one also set up by Don Holland an raced by a solicitor whose name escapes me"

talking to a Series Production racer from the 1960s tonight....he floored me....they used to tape their hubcaps over the headlights to protect them 8)....

I always thought they had got some sort of special, aerodynamic domed, racing, lightweight, headlight protectors

a few also used to tape over their rego labels if the cars were still under "Hire Purchase" .... :D

We had a guy in HDCC who used the company car in events, and an `assumed name'...
