Post subject: | Suspension Gurus. HELP!!! |
Hey all, I need to make my morris transportable for a move in the new year, The guy who owned it before me 'let down the suspension' Hes managed to pull the trumpets and cones out of the top suspension arm ball cup. and the ball of the trumpet is resting inboard of the arm. (hope this makes sense) For the life of me I can't pull them back into place. Does anyone know of a way to do this without the subframe coming out. I'm thinking I'll have to pull out the top suspension arm and put it back in that way. He can't of done it with the subframe out because the braking system is still there and hasn't been moved (rusted in. looks like since manufacturer). Any help is appreciated Cheers Hoba |

I am trying to picture what you are saying. It sounds like you will need a cone compressor to put it back together. Has the knuckle joint popped out of the seating cup? I that right? |

Theres no way to get a cone compresser in there theres no hole in the ledge in the engine bay to get to the top of the tower....... Yeah your right the ball has popped out but its sitting on the backside of the top arm. |

If there's no access hole on top then you are right, you will have to either try and lever it back in (Shaky) or take apart the top arm to lower it down enough to get it back in. Its not so hard to do, just a little annoying getting to the bolts under the radiator to pull the top pin out. |

Thanks Mick, I thought this was the case. There's no donk or radiator so it shouldn't be to hard. What a pain I don't see the point in letting dry suspension down. Anyways now to try and manuevre these rusty top arm bolts...... Theres definitely no way to lever em back in because they're behind the arm. Cheers Hoba |

Tried to pull out the suspension arm and wiggle it back into place but that was a no go. Went to minisport and bought a compressor. found the holes in the crossmember for access to the tower. Got one side back in, one to go. FUN FUN FUN.. Hope I never have to this again hahaha Hoba |
