Well after having a productive day tuesday getting my mini going. I got excited and went to the rta website to order my personalised plates for the mini. The website wouldnt take my order so i rang the number provided to find out what was wrong. The muppet on the end of the phone told me my licence had been suspended and my car rego also had been suspended as of sept 2004. I tell you i was pretty close to doing a Russell Crowe. After "WHAT THE F%$K" i tried to calm and apparently i have a couple of outstanding fines that they have sent to my mums address she left 4 yrs ago. I tried to explain that on my licence and my car rego it has the new address that we have been at for 3 yrs. I have had 2 different cars and licence letters sent to the new address over this time. Anyway i rang the state debt recover and have to pay $650 and wait 5 day before i can get my licence and car legally regod again. ![]() This is allot more than the fines (Parking) would have been. I wonder how things would have gone down if i had written off my $35000 car if i didnt have rego/licence and i guess invalid insurance over the last 9 months. ![]() ![]() ![]() So I have to pay $650 fines and rego and insurance for two cars next week and the mechanic about another $500 Things are looking scary. You poor bastard, yeah that's a worry. We have speed vans here and I sure I got done for double demerits for the Xmas holidays, but nothing has turned up. Then someone tells me that I will eventually get the ticket because of the problems with NSW plates going onto Y as the first digit. ![]() |

You should get the RTA to check when your address was changed with them which the system will have on it! and write to the manager of vehicle registrations if they are at fault. May enable fines to be dismissed. Used to work at Vic roads and if our error we did all we could to Help. They only giving info that they are allowed to say. Push them harder and they might slip!!! ![]() |
