As the title suggests..... I have had someone say that the k's came with twin tanks but my research doesn't show this... Or have I missed something?

Can anyone answer this please?

Deb :D

Only the ones that were sold on as a Cooper S.

Not standard but maybe if you ordered it with them or dealerships fitted them? Otherwise some one has just fitted them after purchase

No, not factory. However some ex-Police S were converted to Mini-Ks back then (easier to sell), some may have kept the twin tanks.

I have two and neither have them.

However, as previously stated they could (probably are) be after market.

How do you go about converting an ex-s to k? Ditch the engine and restamp the numbers?

Or is it like 2 mates out and about and the passenger picks up the drivers car club mag and say's there's twin tanks cheap and gets the driver to use his fuel and go and look at them then buys them without out asking if he would be interested in them and makes a killing on them, then they end up in a mini k

My mini k she'll doesn't have two. I would assume this is standard. Possibly an added extra to get the second tank in. I dunno though. Just a thought.

My 1970 Mini wasaMatic has twin tanks, the RH one came out of a dead GT... along with the disc brakes, front subby, engine, gearbox.. etc 8)

As standard anyway :)

Thanks guy. So hard to work out what is genuine and what's not these days :)

No not as standard . . .but when the ex-police Cooper S were sold at auction the cost of 'S' insurance meant it was easier to transfer all the go fast bits into a Deluxe body or sell some of the bits to Deluxe owners. Seems innocent enough but somewhere down the track and about 30 years later, the car has been sold a few times, the memory fades and now it might appear in an add as a 'genuine' Cooper S.

Morris 1100 would know the figures - but it has been discussed before that there maybe twice as many Cooper S's running around than were ever made.

My Deluxe has a 35 litre Japanese Rover tank - very nice for longer trips
:D
