Working on the mini today, my uncle was under the bonnet adjusting the idle on the carb, goes to stand up, slices head open on the bonnet catch hook of death. About 2 inches long, he ended up with 6 stitches after our trip to emergency room. Lots of blood but luckily none over the new paint job

Be careful!

Ouch! That looks painful. I was working on our Clubman and the new (2nd hand) bonnet has the stay on the opposite side, so it doesn't have a retaining catch on the same side as the stay. My wife said "Aren't you worried it will fall on your head?" "No, I'll be fine". Ten minutes later, I knocked the stay and the catch speared me bonce. It only fell about eight inches but three weeks later I can still feel where hit.

He needs a number 1 cut now to show his mini scar off with pride! On a serious note though, thanks for the reminder and I hope it heals quickly.

Maybe it is your mini punishing him for driving an MG.

Haha thanks guys, I think he's getting the stitches out next friday.

We taped it up with some foam and some clothes to prevent any further problems but I think the mini will leave a mark on him for life
