With the 40mm dellorto on and 3mm less on the deck height I am struggling to see how I get a filter in my round nose deluxe. If it weren't for the speedo cable it would be a chance but it would deform the cable a fair degree jamming the filter backing plate in there.

Ramflow filter is what I have to go on there.

I was wondering if anybody has seen a filter manifold that re-positions the filter and enables the use of a K&N filter on the end of it?

Yes it's a struggle but still possible.

Firstly machine the manifold so that it kicks up about 5 degrees, this will give you some more clearance room. The only thing that will fit over is an upwards offset ramflo filter (Lynx RamFlo 445 P5) that will fit but you will still need some minor firewall bashing to clear the filter.

We are talking mm of clearance here...

I run the same filter, it clears mine fine. But I have a 1275 block which is ~10mm taller than a smallbore, and yours is even lower than that due to the big decking job for Imp pistons.

As Lillee said, angle the manifold face more where the carby bolts on.
IMO you can also bin the O-ring mounts on a road car to save a few mm. I've used stock gaskets there for 20 years, with no problems.

Belt the speedo opening in the firewall down a bit if you need to.

My ramflo in my mini also fits (sits against the firwall matt though) but yeah mine is 1275 also and using 45 webber (not sure if same dimension as delorto though)

You can always just lengthen the engine steady and machine the remote housing to match. this will give you plenty of room.

Thanks all for the ideas and photos. The ramflow filter set up I had was a bit on the beaten side already so I modified the base and cage so it allows the speedo cable to pass with out being deformed. Seems to work ok but probably not allowing quite as much clearance of foam around carbie inlet.

After recent wasps nest incident, priority is just closing all engine holes up at the moment

Sledgehammer and then dynamat over it + ramflo socks!
And the shortest damn stacks you can buy!

Another idea re speedo cable is use Jag angle drive if it's screw on

Ramflo or Unifilter socks will need to bend upwards against the firewall unless you let them stick into the speedo `hole'.

If you want the Ramflo filter and inlet stacks too, I make alloy 5mm radius `stubstacks' for 40, 42, and 45mm Weber DCOE/Dellorto DHLA/Solex PHH carbs.
They work for me, and many other ausminiers who now have them.

a Ramflo case + Unifilter foam + my stubstacks would flow heaps better.

I made it years ago. I would sell it to you, but it will only fit with a std angle Redline 3005 manifold. Your Pommy one is too low, and it won't fit on mine now either because of the carb angle.
