Post subject:  Moke Vs Clubman Engine bay size

hey, as most of you know im in the middle of doing an engine conversion into my moke, my mate has had to take back his engine crane for a little bit so my resources have disapeared..

could anyone help me out with the dimensions in their clubman- firewall to front panel and fender to fender, so i can compare with my moke ? i know the conversion has previously fitted into a leyland clubman enginebay with no problems, so i figure just comparing the dimensions should be a safe way to judge if it will fit,

if someone can help me with this id be very appreciative

Thanks Nick

I am not at home so I can't give you exact measurements but...

The cross member that the brake and clutch master cylinders mount on is virtually identical Mini to Moke. The Moke's firewall is more vertical above the cross member so there is a bit less space there in a Moke than a Mini.

In front of the engine a Moke's grille sits about 2 or 3cm further forward than a round nose and a Clubman sits out about 7 to 8cm more than a round nose. So your Moke's engine bay would be about 5cm shorter than the Clubman.

The space (width) between inner guards is roughly the same but a Moke's headlights are much closer together so the headlight buckets are closer to the head. The passenger side headlight bucket on the Moke is right in front of the radiator so if your conversion has a larger rad you may have problems.

I hope this helps.
