I am getting to the point where I need to put the seat belts back into my mini now that it is running. Only problem is I don't seem to have any bolts for them????

Can anyone tell me what size they are so I can go buy some more?

cheers,

CJ

The threads are 7/16 UNF. There are straight ones (used with spacer) and shoulder bolt ones, most ausmini folks have a bag of assorted ones.
They are not Mini specific.

7/16 UNF is that the same as the seat mounts?

No it's the thread diameter. Seat mount bolts are 7/16" AF SPANNER size, their thread is 1/4" UNF.

The threads are the same whether British, Australian, Jap or whatever.
Even my 1969 Fiat had 7/16 UNF seatbelt bolts...

So did mini's come without any seat belts at some point? I can't seem to find any points on the floor where they were previously mounted?

They were standard fitment in front from ~1965, and in back from 1971-72.
I had a 1961 850 and even it had mount points in the front, for static belts.
When Clubbies got retractable (inertia reel) front belts they moved the lower mounting point back to inside the rear bins. However the mount nut was still attached to the inner sill, NOT the bin. (but original placement lower mounts are there too, under the carpet).

hmm I might have to look a bit harder. The top point is there, though it has a rubber blanking plug but there is noting under the carpet?

Since it didn't have belts in it when I got it, I have no idea if it ever did?

ok armed with Stanley knife I hacked my way through the underlay and sticky crap on the floor to find the anchor point at the door and the center point for the inner.

Is there meant to be two points at the bottom for the inertia reels?

I fitted the inertia reels, no the body has only 1 hole at that point.
I had to shorten the reel's bracket and drill another hole so it cleared the door pocket.
Note if using Clubby seats in roundies the reel fouls the seat base... can't push the seat back.

Hmm I seem to be missing a couple of pieces for my seat belts. According to the workshop manual there should be spacer pieces (items 4 and 9 on image).

Now I don't have any, nor can I find them on any mini sites? Anyone know where I can get them or what I could use as an alternative?

cheers,

CJ
