Found this multi-layer stainless steel gasket on the MiniMania site- anybody used one?
Price isn't cheap- there again, if it works better...?

I think I saw something similar on ebay a while back and couldnt figure out why so dear....

Even if they are better, I dont think there "betterness" can justify the price tag.....

Can they? :?

Is there anything wrong with your current one?
Unless you're having issues, what would be the benefits of 'upgrading'?

It's a Cometic brand. Extremely good, re-usable (would want to be at the price), but to ensure 100% reliability, preparation required is same as that for the copper gaskets. With big bore engines, high compression ratio's, exotic fuels, and maybe even boosted applications, there is none better.

They are available locally.

A lot of modern cars use such a head gasket don't they?
One thing to consider is if they can be torqued with a normal torque wrench or if they need to be done using an angle device.

As Matt said, i've got one for a 1380. As the gasket has a larger bore then your standard gaskets it means my pistons won't be hammering it into the head. Also it should be less likely to blow the gasket between cylinders with the small wall thickness.

I ended up getting mine from http://www.minisport.com.au/prod67.htm as it's actully a pretty damn good price (once you price up overseas and postage etc). Some of the overseas sellers actually have different variations of this gasket though. It can be bought in varying thickness and bore diameter, and not everyone sells the same size.

Whats it cost to post it out though? Yea you might end up saving a couple of dollars, just a couple. But compared to your normal savings for buying overseas it's not that big a deal. So from an aussie supplier, i think it's still a good price.

I could probably get it through work at a trade cost, but frankly trying to chase up a supplier we don't actually buy through for a 1 time deal i just went for second best.
