These photos are of two Minis once owned by a couple in Sydney.

Boris, the blue one, is now in the UK with new owner and is the subject of an upcoming story in Mini World by Kay Drury.

Kay would like to know if Dorris still exists and if anyone has any more info on the cars when in Sydney.

Cheers,
Watto.

Boris before the resto in about 1989.

The two cars kissing. Dorris is a Mk1 Cooper S.

There is a Mini club NSW sticker on the back window. any ideas?

Now, this is part of the story as told to Kay by the new owner, who was apparently told it by the previous owner (who I guess may have been the pilot in question).

Quote:
It was a his and hers job - blue Mk2 BORIS was hers, and the white Mk1S DORRIS was his - he was a car restorer. She met someone else, a British Quantas airline pilot. Got divorced and came back to England with him, bringing BORIS with her. Quantas transported it for them. Sadly she died shortly after and it just stayed in a garage here until current owner bought it in 2005, it's still only done about 4,000 miles since restoration.

That's all I know and the story may or may not be correct.

Cheers,

Hey, I just cut and pasted the quote from Kay's email.

I will make sure she doesn't miss spell it in her story, though.

Cheers,

Thanks Watto :)

Oops, sorry for misspelling QANTAS  I'll blame it on my British education that taught me that Q was always followed by U. I am trying hard to get the rest of the info in the feature as accurate as I can, but hopefully you'll forgive me if I get a few things wrong, the Australian Mk2 S (and your Minis in general) are amazingly different to the UK equivalent when you start looking at them in detail.

It would be good to know if DORRIS is still around though.

We have to forgive these furrin, unejicated types.

Here are a couple of books that should be compulsory in all Aussie primary skills, so they are not pushing out a bunch of gallahs.

OK, sorry to get so far off topic......

Now, does anyone know anything about Dorris?

Ummm... Galahs perhaps? (While we're being pedantic and erudite)
