Contessas were sold under ROH brand and some others. ROH ones push in from the front. Some others (eg Cheviot) were held on with 4 little screws. I also have one that is recessed in the back, the cap was flanged and pushed in from behind. All 3 of these wheels have different diameter bores. But the casting is the same. Here's what original early ROH ones looked like, there were also later design ones, and some with Leyland on them. I had this set but sold them a while ago. [edit] I have 3x Cheviot Contessa caps here, for sale if you want. |

Sorry for the thread hijack. I have a set of Chevoit's version of Contessa's. They have a different cap to the one shown by the doc - it's fluted and is pushed in from the front (sort of like the lonely one in Matt's pic). Doc - are you saying they are all the same casting? I need some new wheel nuts, so what size do I order? Once again - sorry for the hijack Blunder. |

Well the common `Mini offset' ones were sold under a few brands as said and that casting is common. However the NOS one I have here with the bigger hole is this same offset and spoke shape, but slight difference in the external machining of the well. The `LS or SS? offset' ones fitted by Leyland are different to above, but these were not ever sold as aftermarket wheels AFAIK. |

I went through my paint cans when I was 17 on my first mini, and other aerosole cans and found lids that fitted in from the back off the hole, bit of silicone on them and little 20 cent piece size gear knob centre and had made a wicked set of unique centres sometime the cheap and original ideas are better lids free, gear knobs badges $2 each set of centres for $8 beat that Monte |

Thanks As I recall There are two caps fitted to the wheel most of us call the contessa, 65mm and 67mm pushed in from the front of wheel As memory serves me they were originally called Contesta |
