Is it possible to re-spline a steering wheel? I've got an old wheel that would clean up nicely, unfortunately it isn't from a mini and the spline is much larger, would it be possible to make an adapter or press in a mini one somehow?

I have a MotaLita hub that some dill machined the spline out of and put a morse taper and key in it (WTF!)
I made it fit a Mini again by boring it out, TIG welding an alloy bar into it, boring that out and resplining it. Only reason- I have another MotaLita wheel that was with it.
Lot of work..
Easier to buy an adaptor that fits a Mini and redrill it to suit the wheel.

Try Karcraft, Repco, Supercrap, etc etc
An AutoTechnica or SAAS hub might fit your wheel..

Why not weld a larger spline to the steering column? same as modifying a drive shaft on an engine conversion.

Cut the spline (leave a bit of column on the end) from the vehicle the wheel was originally from, turn the larger column down to the diameter of the mini column.

cut the spline from the mini column and mate the mini column and larger spline together (and perhaps sleeve and weld the sleeve for good measure)

Or do as the doc says, bore out the larger spline in the wheel, insert a mini spline and tig weld.

Alternatively get a hold of a mk1 wheel because they look pretty ace.
