Post subject:  Leaking Clutch seal

Hi guys, I am over trying to stop the clutch seal from leaking.. I have tried 2 times, a specialist has fitted a new one, and still leaking.. So i am thinking of fitting a catch can and just unscrewing it..

Can I helicoil the hole where the oil leaks out, and put a screw in adapter and a bit of hose into a catch can..

Has any one done it before? I just don't want the mini to leak on my nice new floor.. Its only a drop or two occasionally, but it drives me nuts

Simple fix: put a piece of plastic down, then a piece of old cut up carboard box on top. Ensure both pieces fit between the wheels of the mini. Change cardboard often.

Clean floor, no more sleepless nights! :P

So does anyone on here have a mini that does NOT leak? Put your hand up for Brett..

Mine surely does. It is annoying - mostly for my lovely better half.

I've got a few galvanized drip trays from supercheap and I put No frills Cat Litter I got for free from work in them. Sooner or later I'll run out of Cat Litter, but it's taken 7 yrs so far.

Sadly a leaking clutch seal will eventually destroy the clutch plate due to excess oil.
Have you replaced the primary gear as the current one may be worn in the centre bushes and letting oil seep out?

If you fit a Rover seal protector as well, it acts as a slinger and keeps oil off the clutch plate. Apart from the miniscule bit that seeps through the primary gear bushes- and that gets flung out through the holes in the flywheel and won't get on the plate.
