Post subject:  Weber mixture screws cup

Currently running 2.5 turns out which is pretty rich but am running dr mini special stub stacks with no filters for a week to see how much power my filters were losing. Which appears to be heaps!
However, I have just glanced at the weber diagram and there is meant to be a cup under my mixture screws....? I have nothing of the sort (second hand carby)
Can anyone confirm this? How many turns out would the cup essentially take? Eg cup takes up 1.5 turns of space, my current set up would be fine???

The screws are a needle valve, the springs are just there to stop them unscrewing.
If it's running fine leave it, the cups won't affect the position of the needle in the jet (down inside). :wink:
[edit] just looked at a diagram, the cup holds the O-ring down, but the spring would anyway.
My Dellorto uses a flat washer there that does the same thing.

But to set the mixture, you screw all the way in and then out x amount, hence if you weren't essentially screwing all the way in, you may already be 1.5 turns out for example.
If a weber is any more that 1.5 turns out (or so) to idle and run ok, then the jets need to be bigger etc, so I would be putting in bigger jets now but I shouldn't be.
Know whatta mean? :lol:

Ps.. Stub stacks, no filter, richer jets and mixture = the best drive I've ever had!!!!

when you screw the screw needle right in, it seats in the metering jet inside. This not the idle fuel jets that you are talking about changing. :wink:
It will seat regardless whether you have a spring, the cup washer, O-ring, or not.
