Post subject: | Another engine number question. |
Does any one know what type of engine is in the heinz (a 71' clubman 's') if the number is 9ya|ta|h6867 but on all the data plates and body numbers and every bit of ID it has it says it is the right engine but I went onto an engine number sight and it said it was out of a morris mini delux and the VIN is yma2s2 and this also makes it a delux so does anyone think that my clubby has been relaybled as a delux (taken plates off and put them on mine) Just curious, it doesn't matter if no-one knows because it doesn't matter that much I was just curious. that engine number is a 998 motor. yma2s2 is a deluxe, the numbers are similar to my 1966 deluxe. regards felix |

Pat, A '71? Clubbie should be a 1098, IMO. Engine prefix starting with 10. `Clubman' (so-called by us) S came later. All 998 Leyland Mini S's had a 99H series (UK) motor, AFAIK.. Someone's changed the motor?? ![]() . |

It has got clubbie doors and apparently the bloke we bought it off said it was a 1098 but if the engine number makes it a 998 so be it the compliance plate does look like that but it has got 2 plates one like that and another one with the colour and stuff on it like that so someone has probably switched engines......eh? oh well we got it up to 150 kph so I'm happy with that Pat |

If it's a Clubbie, it shouldn't have that BMC plate, they stopped in early 69. Hmmmmm.... Could be it's a Clubbie that's had its gender reassigned... with Deluxe plates! ![]() |

Not easy to fit Clubby doors to early cars.... the B pillars are different shape. Easier to rivet ID plates on... ![]() |

The reason I say that is: alot of people think that the winding window doors only came on clubbies.... and therefore refer to the doors as "clubby doors"... Just keeping his options alive ![]() |
