I'm looking at pressing in a new set of bushes into my set of Cooper S rockers.

The question I have is to do with the oil drillings for the new bushes. There's two holes, one points forward through the rocker to direct oil onto the valve top, the other is directed backwards through to the adjuster screw to drain down onto the pushrod.

The front drilling is easy to drill, the rear requires me to remove a little bit of pressed in metal that was plugged at the factory after the drilling was completed. Can anyone tell me what I would replace this drilling plug with once I drill the new bushes?

Use a solid aluminium rivet. Or, strike an arc.. ZAP!:wink:
Otherwise don't bother drilling. Later rockers (the sintered ones) have no oilway in there, or groove on the adjuster. There is enough oil fog to lube the pushrods without it.

Cheers, Option B sounds good to me. I'll just give the rear one a miss.

I seem to remember seeing bushes with pre drilled holes one upon a time..

The alternative (if bushes still out) is pre-drill the rear hole in them and line it up when you press it in.
You do realise they need reaming after fitting..?
Correct shaft clearance is about .0005" (1/2 a thou).

Thanks Doc, I did think about pre drilling, that would certainly do the trick as well.

Yes I've got a reamer for these ones.
