Hey guys and gals I had a bit of a search but couldn't find what I was looking for... Will a Morris mini fit into a 8x5 box trailer? Obviously won't be able to open the doors, but will it fit in length wise? Doesn't really matter is I have to leave the rear gate off? Will just save me payin to hire another car trailer. (I should have made or bought one years ago I have paid for about 2 by now already.) Cheers Dan |

A mini is 10foot long (3m) and 4foot something wide (1.4m, no arches). So it should fit inside the trailer sideways but it will be too long. Probable load it backwards to help balance the trailer or have the front arches over the front of the box trailer. |

The front has the motor and the weight and should always be loaded closest to the tow-vehicle, you tend to get trailer wobble (or sway what ever its called) if not loaded at the front. This is scary when this happens. Happened to me once when I loaded a mini the wrong way round, every other time has been fine. I dont know whether your car will fit with some overhang, but i dont think so, as you would need a ft overhang on each end. |

Make sure you measure the trailer. I hired a trailer to carry a mini last year and trailers that were listed as 8' x 4' differed in length by over 400mm. Some trailer manufacturers build to measurement, some build to the measurement of the load (pallets, gib, crates, whatever). So when you mix that with hirers who describe them either way, you can end up with really weird stuff being advertised, WAY off what it actually is. From memory I used an "8x4" with the tail gate down and it was fine (long distance, open road). |

I have an 8 x 5 box trailer so that wouldn't cost me anything... I'd have to hire a car trailer, no real biggie, I've done it plenty of times before |

This is a 7X5 box trailer with front and rear gates folded down.

It's a complete car, I don't have a front gate that'll fold down only the rear. I think I'll just hire a car trailer to be safe... So on another note, anyone need a car towed from Gold Coast to Sydney? |
