Anyone fitted a MED crank damper? Did it go on easily or did you have to dress the centre at all? Mine seems very tight on a few different cranks. Thanks. |

Mine fitted OK after I dressed a few burrs off the crank with 180 wet/dry. It's on my 1412 stroker. |

yeah we use the MED ones & they`re fine wev`e also used the Romacs & they`re the same they nearly all need a little dressing up,, , same as the cranks do it only takes a tiny bruise or burr , or sdimply a little tight i`d rather dress one down to make it fit nice than have a loose one |

Mine fitted without any needing attention, but Spiro had just given the crank journals, nose and tail a polish so the crank was actually better than most. cheers michael |

Same as above, a little clean up on the crank and it is a snug fit. Mine came with a new cnc crank bolt which caused a little angst. The standard bolt screwed in and out with fingers, the new one was tight after a half a turn. Took it to an engineering shop to confirm if the thread was correct, which it was, but apparently it may have been fractionly under cut compared to the original bolt. Buffed the crap out off the thread on my bench grinder and thoroughly cleaned the thread in the crank with a small s/s wire brush ( I don't have the the Crank tap). Now screws in, but still with a little resistence. |

I bought the correct tap for crank thread from minisplus. It had left over bolt thread in it. Needed a good chase through and now the MED bolt goes sweet. |

Often a crank gets dried Loctite left in it, which can make the bolt feel a bit tight. I ground 4 lengthwise grooves in an old 850 flywheel bolt to make a poor man's tap. Works fine for this, also cleans out wasp nests etc from cranks kept `in storage' under peoples houses..
