Grrr, so why does a mini choose to develop faults as soon as you get it registered ![]() I now have an overheating problem where the temp will go up dramatically after a few klms. The radiator is bubbling once I stop and I also get some coolant boiling out from under the thermostat cover..... Guess I will have to pull the radiator out again and replace the thermostat gasket. I hope this is a simple fix ![]() ![]() CJ |

Just pull the thermostat and run her around the block a couple of times if she doesnt heat up , just replace the thermostat . Other than than that the only things that come to mind are head gasket or timing. |

I have just flushed the radiator ad checked the thermostat before rego ![]() Might check the rad cap too, what is the correct part no for a system without an overflow bottle? |

It only happens if you use them! Parked and neglected they are fine. |

There is only two types really. Long neck cap and short neck cap. The bottom rubber seal should touch slightly on the lip before screwing it in. If its not touching its too short, if you have to push the spring down with great force it'd too long. I suggest you have a look at the water pump too... It may be now rusty and no longer moving much water.... |

Starting to think I should have replaced everything regardless of condition.............. Holy crap was just looking at rad caps, there is 100's of teh buggers available ![]() |

Firstly, disregard all parts that aren't mini related. http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/i ... 9e7aafe653 There are only 3 here, yours is probably the middle one for $9.90 unless you have a late model, fandango radiator |

I think it is around 12 or 13pound pressure is original for mini, Someone will confirm or deny it. If not I will check mine in the morning ![]() |

Was it coming out the radiator overflow? Mine did that...and then coolant also decided to come out shortly after through the head gasket ![]() |

Just a thought regarding caps. Most are available as a recovery system type as well. Grab one of them and put overflow into bottle secured somewhere, works great. |
